Has anyone tried absinthe liquor?!
Has anyone tried absinthe liquor?
and where can u get it in the States?
Answers:
You can not purchase Absinthe in the US. You can buy it from on-line sites that will ship to the US. US Customs allows you to import for personal use up to 2.15 liters of alcohol under $200 by international mail. Avoid the products from Czech as many are overpriced and poorly made. French, German, Austrian products generally are better and adhere to the old recipes. My favorite is Mata Hari Absinthe made from the original 1881 recipe. It is still made in the same factory by the great grandson of the distillery founder. Take a look at the shipping rates and prices at sites like http://www.absinthemarket.com or checkout the reviews at http://wormwoodsociety.org/

It is illegal in the U.S. You can easily get it in Mexico. It takes like llager, or black licorice.
You have to special order it because it is "illegal" but it is very good.
It's outlawed in America because it has opium in it.
absinthe is knarley, i have seen ads for it, in like tatoo magazines, so just looke at a tatoo magazine whenever your in stater bro. hell if you find the ad there should be a number. but you could always go south of the border

Make sure to get the highest amount of thujone you can. This is the ONLY reason to drink absinthe. Thujone is the psychotropic that people drink absinthe to get. Otherwise, stick to ouzo.
For more google absinthe
BTW absinthe can't be legally sold in the states. What they do is have you PURCHASE it in euro with a credit card and then they send it to you. Just a loophole but that's why it's so expensive. If you see it in a US liquor store (sometimes you do) it's made with grand wormwood which has relatively little thujone.
No it doesn't have opium in it. It has a wormwood derivative. Unfortunately it is not legal to sell in the US, so you have to get it overseas or get lucky and have a shipment come in without being inspected by customs.
can't get it in the states. it tastes like licorice.
There's plenty of bad information floating around about absinthe.
Yes, I've tried a number of brands, no you currently can't buy it in the states, although there may be a new brand available in the next couple months at select locations.
While absinthe is not illegal most absinthe contains trace amounts of a chemical called thujone and the FDA bans products with grand wormwood and thujone.
Real absinthe contains anise and tastes slightly similar to 'black licorice.' It doesn't and has never contained opium and is not hallucinogenic. Thujone does not matter and will not cause hallucinations or 'the absinthe effect.' Companies have taken advantage of myths by hyping this chemical. Products that hype thujone should be avoided.
