How strong is a whisky sour supposed to be?!
Answers: I made one with the directions on the box (pre-mix) and it seems very intense. I finally added water to dilute it. It was basically 1.5 ounce whisky, 1.5 ounce water, a what seems to me quite large packet of the mix, a cherry, and to serve with ice.
Very good question!!! And it has no definitive answer, because you should only make a drink as potent as you like it. If it's too strong, water it down a bit. If it's too weak, then add a little. Generally speaking however, you're well off following the directions, or going a bit lighter. The reason is depending on your tolerance to alcohol, you want to enjoy the drink, not try and get blottoed in ONE drink. Enjoy and be responsible. Smokey is out there and waiting.
It is all a matter of taste & how quickly you want to be intoxicated! I bet Martha Stewart has a great recipe on her website!
uhhh........dont drink alchohal?
I like them on the milder side. Also, I prefer Amaretto in mine because it adds the sweet element to it.
Sounds tasty; you did right -- if it's stronger than you care for, just add water.
Personally, I prefer my bourbon straight up.
lets start at the beginning
don't underestimate the impotence of the right glass.
first do you want it blended or on the rocks?[ i myself like any sour drink on the rocks shaken]
for on the rocks you want a 8 oz bucket, the trick to pouring the prefect drink is to fill your glass with ice first[all the way to the top] then add you liqueur you are right with one and a half oz[one full shot glass]then fill glass with sweetnsour mix buy it in a bottle this time if you cant find it Collin's mix will also work and in a pinch so will Margaretta mix and a teaspoon of sugar.
wait your not done yet .pour the e whole thing into a shaker, and shake it .then pour it back into glass and enjoy.
if you find this to strong tasting you might want to use amaretto instead of whiskey and medori is really really good also.
if you want it blended well through it in the blended
It is only as strong as that of a regular mixed drink made with one shot of 80 proof liquor. Unless you add more.
I like my Bourbon drinks to lean a little strong, as I love Bourbon and want the taste to come through as I drink it. 1.5 oz is a pretty standard amount for a drink. 1.5 oz of water would seem light for a drink that requires additional mixer. Also depends on the size of the glass you used. A highball glass, a rock glass etc. etc.
In the end did you enjoy it? The last time I had a Whiskey Sour, it reminded me of Lemonade with whiskey in it. It's been a long time ago
