hangovers etc. are caused primarily by dehydration, (booze dehydrates you)
drink 12 -16 ounces of water for each serving of wine, beer, or hard liquor you drink. stay away from sweets as sugar will also exacerbate the problem. this approach will make any hangover etc. less vicious, but the only way to not pay a price the next day is to not drink heavily!

as for food, eat normally and at least 2 hours before you start boozin it up!

Eat normally. Just like you would any other day. I guarantee that you will get the munches after you drink. I recommend beef jerk for the ride home... tastes like steak when you're trashed. Ooooo... or chili mac. Heck, just go to your local greasy spoon and order whatever they have.

If you don't want to get sick....don't plan on getting drunk!!!

New years is like....the only day I don't care about getting sick.

So you can't really do much to stop yourself from getting sick....but what you CAN do, is make the puking not so bad!

I like to eat Kraft Dinner......that way if I have to puke, it comes up easily :)

just eat normally.

definetly do not limit your food during the day.

that is what makes me puke.

and also do not drink too fast or too much.

that will gurantee a miserable night on the bathroom floor, and the toilet being your new best friend.

the first time, most people that i know did get sick.
because they just want to get drunk fast, and they don't want it to go away, so they keep drinking.

they don't quite know their limits yet.

so hopefully you can figure yours out.
