Does wine kick in faster than other alcohols?!

Question: I just drank a glass of wine, which I usually don't, and I noticed I felt the alcohol buzz a lot faster than from say drinking beer or even a shot of liquor. Also I ate recently. Anyone else have similar experience?

If you are used to just drinking beer or an occassional shot, wine will affect you sooner. Depending on where you live, here it's only 3.2 beer, wine will definitely hit you quicker.

But, sometimes you get used to a certain alcohol and you have more toleration to it. Then you drink something you're not used to and it will hit you fast. Also if you are stressed or upset certain alcohols seem to have more effect on you.

But, most wine is at least 10% alcohol or more, which is a lot more than beer.

I wouldn't think it would..but it COULD be that you have a sensitivity (or even an allergy) to sulfates..which are present in wine (especially white).

Any alcohol that is more at a room temperature will enter your bloodstream faster than a cold drink. Especially red wine, straight unchilled shots of liquor or even room temperature beer. Thus, causing you to become buzzed quicker.

No, but wine generally has a much higher alcoholic content. Most wines are 11% or 22 proof.

Most beer is 1.2%

Alcohol absorbtion to your blood stream is dependant on many things like metabolism - food content in the stomach - type of food - body fat content - BMI index - etc.

I have drank wine a total of 3 times in my life. I don't think it kicks in faster then hard alcohols. In fact I think it takes more to start to give you a buzz because it has less alcohol in it then hard alcohol does.

It just may have been a fluke.
