Question:

Absinthe...Does it work?

Absinthe is supposed to make you hallucinate. Does it? I asked some people that claimed they drank it and they told me it just get's you drunk..What's the Truth?

*Only answer the question if You Drank it...*

Answers:
No, the truth is that back in the 1800's when absinthe was becoming really popular the wine companies were losing a lot of money due to the fact everyone was buying absinthe. So the wine companies made up this rumour that absinthe makes you go crazy, and that you hallucinate on it. Its all false, even the stuff with wormwood doesn't make you hallucinate

No. Back in the day it was made from wormwood, which is hallucinogenic and toxic, but not anymore.

Yeah, just drunk, but it's nasty, I don't recommend it.

No. Even the wormwood wasn't really toxic in the doses in the absinthe. This was a rumor started by the wine industry, which was hurt by absinthe drinkers. Any halucinigenic properties were caused by faulty distilling or using other ingredients. BTW, If you like the taste of black liccorice, then you will love absinthe.

no you don't hallucinate, but if you drink enough of it you may feel drunk and a bit spaced out. maybe a bit of a body buzz, but that is only with the good stuff.

If you go to Portugal and buy it from someone who makes it themself, (for £4 a litre) some damn strange things happen

Its bullshit they dont make you hallucinate, its all a touristy type thing. All absinthe is is strong.

Work as in get you drunk? Yep.
Work as in make you hallucinate? Nope, and it never has.

Absinthe has never been a hallucinogen, that's a myth based on prohibitionist propaganda and bad science that has continued through out the years. Today it's often hyped by companies to get customers to pay high prices for low-quality or false products.

Real absinthe is a complex tasting anise based liquor, with an interesting history and preparation ritual (which doesn't include fire), but it's still only a liquor.

it used to when i twas first made
