What's the difference between a cocktail and an ordinary drink?!

cocktails contain liquor and juice and or liqueur[ie tom Collins screwdriver,or blackrussian]anytime you add juice or liqueur to a drink it becomes a cocktail.
highballs contain liquor and just pop[rye and coke,gin tonic]

A cocktail is just a fancied up alcoholic drink - something other than straight booze or a booze/pop combo.

Cocktails are ordinarily mixed. Nowadays, though, the two terms are interchangeable.

An ordinary drink would be, say vodka over the rocks

a cocktail does something more, like a french martini, made with vodka and chambourd

cocktail is just a fancier name... probably created by the liquor industry

one is served witha chicken butt feather in it, the other isn't
