Why do people hold their alcoholic drinks up when taking pictures?!

Question:

Why do people hold their alcoholic drinks up when taking pictures?

Whenever you look at a picture of younger people at a party or at a bar and they are taking pictures, they always have their drinks up as to show them off and to show that "yes, I'm drinking too." I don't understand that. Why do people intentionally hold their drinks up to their chest and out when taking a picture? It looks ridiculous.

Answers:
it called cheers a salute to the camera/ person taking picture.

"Cheers"

They are just trying to have some fun. relax!

They are in fact offering a "cheers" to the camera.

youre just mad youre not drinking with them...or youre too old I take it?

i love taking pictures with beer or alcohol in my hand...it shows the person looking at the picture that I had fun that night....

Lol! To prove what an alcoholic they really are of course.

they're showing their age

The holding up a drink comes from only drink with friend , when Army would sign a treaty or take an oath, or a tossed you raise your drink to show you are unarmed and in a defenseless posture.

latter this evolved in to raising your visor as knights passed each other to show your self as a friend or foe, and this evolved to the moderns day military salute.

Nest time your at a party and some one get out of hand and you have to beat them down try to get them to agree to some thing and raise there drink and drop your beer and give them a good right hook, they will be surprised and every one will be shocked and it is sort of a sucker punch, but hay all is fare in love and war.

Saying cheers and it makes the pic look fun

it's all in fun!!

As an excuse for looking haggard in the picture ("It's the booze, not me!")

It's really just tradition to show that a person is having fun. You know, like when people make a toast at weddings, etc. It's really no big deal.

They just want you to see what you are missing out on!!

finally legal to drink, party with friends, share the celebration, remember the happy memories, and afford the drinks!

Because they want people to see that they're drinking.
