What is a good wine to go with Pasta?!

Question:

What is a good wine to go with Pasta?

Answers:
I like a full bodied red wine. Most red wines are good with pasta, it just depends on what kind of red you like.
I would start out with a good Zinfandel!

My favorites include:

1. Imported Chianti
2. Pinot Grigio
3. Sauvignon Blanc
4. Zinfandel
5. Merlot
6. Sangeovese

It depends on what else is in the pasta.
If you have chicken in it, maybe a Blue Moon Riesling?
If you have spaghetti with meatballs, get a Chianti and light the candles.

If you can get it, home made grape wine. The best!

What kind of sauce? For white I'd go with a sauvignon blanc. For a heavier red sauce, maybe a zinfandel or merlot. Cabernet is too heavy for pasta.

In general, a hearty red. Although it would depend on what type of meat or fish was paired with the pasta. Different styles of reds help to distinguish certain aspects of a particular entree'. With today's no-nonsense approach, once you find a particular producer and wine you enjoy, forget the old"codes" and drink what you like, with the food that you like.

what ever takes your fancy red, white, rose, sweet or dry

It depends what sort of sauce or other ingredients are in the pasta...here are some options I tend to like

red/meat sauce - a chianti is classic, but you could also try a Spanish tempranillo, a cabernet sauvignon, or red zinfandel

creamy sauce - sauvignon blanc, pinot grigio, a dry riesling

citrusy sauce - riesling or sauvignon blanc

spicy sauce - merlot (for a red) or gewürztraminer (for a white)

seafood - pinot grigio, chardonnay, or sauvignon blanc

Also, if you go to any wine store, you can tell the employees what you're serving and your price range and they can suggest some options. Hope this helps!
