I am the manager of a fine wine and spirits shop. I often use this site do decide on ...?!

Question: displays, new product and marketing issues. How do you feel about that? Just looking for the public opinion.

At least you are not looking for a new drink to try. Using "ordinary people's" view on things indicates you are thinking properly about what "they" want.

Unfortunately this site is full of 14 year olds. Probably more than you know. But you may be able to gauge some decent sentiement with a pointed question. Perhaps you need advice on a wine pairing event featuring the fabulous sav blancs. from Marlboro vale? ok some are not 14.

You use Yahoo! Answers for displays, new products, and marketing? Why would you do something silly like that? Not only are most of the answers on here silly or plain gibberish, but some of them are downright wrong. Hell, some of those that are outright wrong are even chosen as best answers!
My opinion? I think you need to take a long hard look at your store's target audience, and not use a site that half the users are underage.

That's great that you use this site for that. There are so many opinions here to go by.

I look for a good wine consultant to help me in food and wine pairing. You could incorporate that in what you do, or, you may already be doing that.

I think many of the good shops have a time frame on Saturdays (usually) for wine tasting. I am told that it helps their sales a lot.

Where are you located?

.

ITS ALL about marketing...you can take a crap in a pie plate market it as high end chocolate charge 100 bucks and someone will buy it..

So do whatever it takes to figure out how to market yourself wisely!

Depends on your target audience. When every other question is "why is wine so bitter? What is a sweet wine?" , that really turns off people like me - who actually enjoy wine and collect it as well.

I don't have a problem with what you do, not at all. Use what you can to get info.

I know that a wine shop has to sell to all walks of life, from Beringer White Zin to Screaming Eagle to Cristal to Lafite, but I just get the feel that 90% of the people who answer wine questions on here ar more the Grocery Store wine buyers.

JMHO. : )
