GO get yourself a nice hefeweisen! perhaps Blue Moon Belgian Style White ale. or Hoegaarten (if you can find it)

If it's "ice cold" you're after, your best bet is to go with a light American pilsner style beer, like Bud, Miller or Coors. These beers are "light" in flavor and are meant to be served very cold. In fact, Coors is marketing a new bottle label with color-altering technology to tell you when the beer is cold enough ... a novelty, but worth noting.
By the way, not to be overly-technical, but an ale IS a beer - there are basically two types of beers - ales and lagers.

If it's ice cold you want, I'd say go for a K?lsch Bier a " refreshing German-style pale ale" according the the Goose Island Brewery website. Goose Island does a "Summertime" which is darn refreshing - but has some flavor.
If you were me you'd go for an IPA. My favourite is Harpoon but it is not sold here. We smuggle it in.
An IPA (India Pale Ale) - Harpoon is good, but so are some others. Try a Stella Artois if you can find it where you are. These don't have to be ice cold, but are nice, light, crisp, and refreshing. Becks is good too, as is Grolsch. All are good summer beers, in my opinion.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Its good stuff. Or some Blue Moon with a slice of orange.
I concur with dsjn4, go wit a bud heavy, but be careful this beer usually leads to some kind of confrontation with an authority figure of some kind, but is worth it.

Go for Shinner Bock. It's brewed in Texas. I like it every once i awhile. I got Bud Light.
I like the Bud Light in the blue aluminum bottles. They stay cold for a long time and it is really good. I don't know what kind of beer or ale you like though. Another good beer is Magic Hat (Number 9). I hope this helps.
