Alcholic Problem. what to do?!

Question: My friends boyfriend is 22 and drinks too much. He is ready to quit drinking and he pukes if he doesn't drink. His body is just used to the alcohol in his body and, he needs like an in-patient detox. What do we look for like around us. He went to the hospital and told them and they said he doesn't have the symptoms of an alcholic. They have the money to pay for the help but how can a hospital turn him down?

If a person states that they have a problem with any addiction, then they do. The only place I would think of that would be able to help would be your local mental health facility. If they do not admit patients for detox, they should be able to direct you to the facility in your area that does. I hope you are able to find help for your friend and soon.

Most hospitals will admit only in a medical crisis, even to an alcohol or pysch unit. Check your area for an outpatient center or In-Patient center. This is your boyfriends life, dont take NO for an answer.

need to entertain himself with something cuz hes gonna get worse if hr keeps drinking.

The hospital shouldn't have denied him. Puking because you aren't drinking alcohol is a serious sign of alcohol withdrawal and that's what you're supposed to go to the hospital for. I mean, I'm not doctor, but that's messed up. No tests or anything? I mean...that's just not right.

go to a local AA meeting they have all been where he is right now..

atleast he's admitted he's got a problem thats a start...

he will puke he will curse he might even have diarrhea and be shaky but this all part of the disease he is giving up....

he body is craving alcohol...
try getting him to drink lots of water...

good luck ....
