Mojito Help!!?!

Question:

Mojito Help!!?

I've been making mojitos for some time now but I'm not getting a very strong mint flavor. I've tried to muddle with a fork, shaking, and leaving it alone.
What am I doing wrong?

Answers:
Mojito

Ingredients:
6 fresh mint leaves, shredded & mashed
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 fresh lime, juice of
2 ounces light rum
Chilled club soda
Ice cubes
Fresh mint sprigs (for garnish)
Lime slices (for garnish)

Steps:
1. In a tall glass, stir mint, sugar and lime juice until sugar is dissolved and stir in rum.

2. Add ice cubes and top off drink with club soda or seltzer water.

3. Stir drink well and garnish with mint and lime.

Good luck!

Try muddling it with the handle of a wooden spoon or something with a wide blunt end. Make sure that you do it in the glass with the sugar so any oils from the mint will help to flavor the drink.

in my humble experience, you need to muddle with something more wide and blunt (you said you use a fork)....even using the back of a spoon, an espresso tamper, or something like an unopened bottle head/neck will release more of the mint flavor by really crushing the mint instead of just puncturing it. if not, use more mint!

Try slightly warming the mint by rubbing it in the inside of the glass, sometimes that releases more flavor. Make sure the mint is really fresh and using something heavier than a fork may help. Think of pushing the flavor out of the mint, something like the bottom of a wooden hairbrush might work.

use a pestle to crush the mint leaves

Use one of those sticks used to crush garlic. Just make sure it is new with no garlic taste on it or you will ruin your drinks... Cheers.
