What is a shooter?

I was at a wedding reception and I walked out to the parking lot to put something in my car. When I returned to the entrance/esit ot the wedding reception this guy I don't even know left the wedding reception and said to me, "you need a shooter, bud". Does shooter = alcohol or something else?
