How hard is it to stop drinking?!

Question: If you find it hard then you could have a dependancy. Social and some heavy drinkers can stop quite easily but if you have crossed the line into alcoholic drinking then it's practically impossible. I know I've been there I had to get outside help to stop in the shape of Alcoholics Anonymous now I'm 5 years sober, and its the best thing I have ever done. There are local AA meetings in your area if you need them. Feel free to email me if you want to chat further. :o)

depend if its an alcoholic or just binge.

If its just binge it cant be that hard- think of somehting you'd really like and use that money to save up for it.

if its an alcohoilc then its difficult and are adviced not to stop drinking without professional help

It's an addiction like anything else. People need professional help if they are an alcoholic. The first hurdle is to get the person to admit they have a drink problem, if they refuse to acknowledge that fact it is very, very difficult to stop.

its not hard at all i stopped 18 years ago mind you i have the odd very odd glass of wine hubby drinks the rest but no its not hard and i worked in a pub at the time take up a new hobby do things to take your mind of drink
hope this helps

That depends on the level of addiction, or whether it is still only a habit.
The mind plays all sorts of tricks, which is unsurprising as alcohol does affect the brain... "Just one drink will be ok".... is the demon drink playing games.
I believe giving up drink is easy, though it can be harder staying off it, particularly forever, hence the AA's saying "Just for Today"

For an alcoholic it must be one of the most difficult things in the world. Bur for everyone else it should be comparatively easy. Instead of alcohol, substitute a soft drink. However you need to be confident enough not to succumb to peer pressure.

not hard to stop but keeping off it is the challenge...you have to make you life so that you won't drink

for those who are INTENSE drinkers, that would be hard for them..
one way is to enrol yourself in a step-by-step lecture of getting rid of alcohol, this would be great if you have a companion with(let's say your wife, girlfriend or best buddy)..
obviously, no one would be able to stop their bad habit by just a click...
so, the main goal here is to lessen the amount of alcohol you drink everytime your having a get-together with friends where alcohol is available or even when your just alone...

try to lessen the amount of alcohol you drink everyday or every week...

as time goes by, you'll be amazed by the results, you might even last a single year wothout alcohol..

hope that helped you with your problem.. godbless you..

It depends what drinking gives you ...
try it for a month, and see if you can replce it with juice or squash ... let's hope you learn that good taste comes from moderation & binge overdoses are not as good for you emotionally & socially as you thought they were.

It's easy, I do it all the time !
