Two containers, a large one and a small one. Fill the larger one with water and press the smaller one down into the water. Hold the smaller container in place with a plate or other heavy object.
Freeze.
After it is frozen solid. Fill the smaller container with hot water, this will loosen it so it can be removed. Pour or spray hot water on the outside of the larger container also with hot water to release it.
Use buckets for a punch bowl, and plastic cups to make 'glasses'.
Its easier to call a grocery store... and buy one!
Are you talking about floating an ice block in something like a punch bowl? If so just fill a jello mold with kool-aid or juice or water & freeze it & unmold it into your punch bowl or whatever you're using. Maybe you could fill your mold & freeze it almost all the way & then scoop out the middle, refreeze it, unmold & fill with whatever.
