Question for experienced Bailey's drinkers -- expiration date?!

Question: I have been "re-gifted" -- not that I'm complaining, b/c I like Bailey's. However, I can tell it's a regift because it says that it's best to drink by January 2008.
Now, I always thought of alcohol as a quasi-preservative -- you never really think about it going bad -- but there is that dairy component here.
How long do I have before my Bailey's is no longer drinkable? By the way, no, I'm not intending to get really smashed on the last day it's still good.
Thanks all!

Because Bailey's contains cream, it will spoil. After opening, refrigerate it. It will last about 30 days after the "pull by" date, they say. Enjoy it soon, though. If you notice that it's clotted when you pour it, dump it.

eilatan_t -- so do I, and neither have I. My wife doesn't get it. Report It

  • if it is airtight and the seal hasn't been broken I would reckon it safe for another couple of months

I have some that's like a year past it expiration , and its still good.
(I keep mine in the fridge so that might be why)
I would say as long as it doesn't smell bad it isn't

In my time, there was no "expiry date...", "best to drink, or eat by..." or "eat, or drink, before..." labelling.
Just common sense, and that seems to have gone overboard.
Oh, your Bailey's should be good for a couple of years unopened.
