Your wine which do you prefer Cork or screw?!

Question: I like the sound of the cork popping!!

Answers: I like the sound of the cork popping!!

hey thats what i like the sound of the bpwop the cork makes
so i quess you and i are the same
THE CORK

Cork if sharing - screw top if keeping some for later as it's so much easier - keep promising to buy one of those corkscrews that do all the hard work for you - maybe one day!!

A screw is easier

I now prefer the screw-top. I have had a handful of bottles that went bad because the cork dried out. I should have been a bit more careful of where/how I was storing it, but the problem would have been avoided with a screw-top cap. Plus it's easy to seal up if you don't finish the whole bottle.

If it's all going to be used, a cork. If it is going to be stored, screw.

neither i get mine free from the wine factory near me they give me the rejects !! which happens ti be ones without lids !!

I used to be a real snob and hated screw tops but so many of my favourite wines now have screw tops that I am a reformed charachter.

Either is ok as long as the wine comes out. I must admit the screw is a lot easier, you can just pop it in the fridge for a another day, if it is cork I have to hunt allover for the cork thingey to seal it.

i like the cork because every-time i have had a cork bottle the wine has always bin nice. but with the top one i think they can be horrible and can put you off wine if you dint taste the ryt ones.

Cork absolutely, screw off are, in the main cheap.

Both...lol...when I used to drink! Now of course I do imbibe in champayne now and then and I love the pop of the cork. 'Specially if it richochets! I give you a star because this is a fun question for me...come read some of mine? ^_^

Hugs, Pami

Hi Sue, i prefer wine with a cork too.

Hi Sue personally i prefer a screw lol xXx

As a bartender I love screw tops. Nothing is more anoying than having to open at least 8+ bottles of wine a night while it's busy when they are all cork.

Screw caps all the way!!
10-15% of all wines using cork are tainted with air. i HATE corked wines! i have yet to have a corked screw off.
Plus it's convenient when on a picnic or at a hotel.

cork all the way!!!

Everyones going to screw tops now, which actually are better (you dont get the extra air, can save rest for another night), but the corks are fun to pop if your gonna drink it in one sitting.
Dont care either way, as long as its good wine!

I prefer the guarantee that you get with a screw top, that the wine will be in the same condition as when it was put in a bottle.

has to be a cork... it can't be a proper bottle if it's not.. surely?

i've yet to taste a nice bottle of wine that's had a screw cap on it. give me El Bombero any day.... 15% full blooded red wine!

I like the screw tops!!!!! Some the best wines from the new world wineries ( Aus, NZ, and the Americas ) Have Screw tops..... Roughly 25% of the wines that use corks go bad. That is reflected in the price per bottle.... Try a Villa Maria Pinot Noir (NZ) Or Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc (NZ) both are about $20.00. Both Fantastic.

I also like the sound of a popping cork however,

it's so much easier with the screw cap. Also, if you have any to save - surely it is more hygenic.

Cork for Champagne, otherwise I don't mind as long as the contents are drinkable.

Screw tops are saving thousands of bottles of wine from going off. If you have ever tasted a 'blown' bottle you know what I mean! The popping is a small price to pay for a good bottle of wine.

I like the plastic corks better then the wood corks and the screw caps is good also so you don't have to worry about the wine going bad.

Screw anytime (!). Seriously the only wine that should have a cork is that bottled before screw tops were acceptable.

Corks fail, screwtops don't, at least in my experience during the short time we have had them.
