Answers: The sure test is buy him another bottle of it, ask him to finish every last drop and test the effect. My guess is lots of vomiting, groaning, sleeping and vows never to drink that repulsive crap again.

Absinthe is no worse than any liquor and is now legal again in the USA. My wife and I brought a flask of it to the Opera on New Years Eve and have lived to tell you about it. You husband is probably cooler than you give him credit for.
why? what do you think absinthe is? FYI it's anise-flavored liqueur, known in France by the brand name Pernod. It's clear and colorless but when you add ice it gets milks. Very tasty.

I wouldn't see a reason to be concerned; Absinthe really isn't that bad when drunk in moderation. It was only banned in the first place because of crazy medieval fairy tales.
Absinthe is basically just a very strong spirit that is no more dangerous than regular alcholic beverages. The only reason that it was ever thought to be addictive is because of the thujone found in it because techinically that is a hallucinogenic chemical, although no evidence supports that theory.
