I have just bought bollinger rd, 1985, is it better to imbibe it...or is it worthwhile to keep it as an invest!

Question: If you recommend storage...could you please tell me the best way to do this?

I second the reco to drink it – this bottle isn't a good one for investment purposes. If you really want to sell it, a more informal wine auction site like winecommune.com might be a good place to unload it.

If you need to hold onto the bottle, please store it in a cool (~55 degrees) environment with no vibration or light. A crawlspace is a good, cheap wine cellar if you're on a budget. A nominal investment in a small temperature-controlled wine cellar/cooling unit would be even better.

If you do drink the bottle, don't be shocked that it doesn't have an energtic "fizziness" or bright flavors. The age diminishes the bubbles and the flavors change from a young Champagne. I enjoy older bottles, you should give it a shot. Cheers!

According to Wine Spectator, that wine is past its peak. That's just a guideline, but a lot of wine industry people follow the word of WS.

I've found some online ranging from $250 to $340. It's original release price was $135, so yes, it's increased in value, but I doubt that it will increase any more other than inflation/value of the dollar.

I say drink it this year on a special occasion and bring a back-up in case it's way past prime.

Store it on its side in a cool dark quiet place until then. Refrigerate two hours before serving.
