What is your fave brand of Tequila?!

Question: I've heard Patron is good, never tried it though.

Answers: I've heard Patron is good, never tried it though.

Anyone who votes Jose Queezy obviously has not had pure agave Tequila. Like in Scotch, there are blends and there are single-malts. Single malt is the best quality.

Same goes for Tequila; there is cheapo and there is pure agave Tequila. Personally, I like Don Julio, but Petron is good too. The ONLY place to get a good education on the stuff is in Mexico - they do Tequila best. Go to a good five-star, all-inclusive resort and they will give you the best "Tequila 101" on the planet!

Jose Cuervo

Normally I drink Cuervo Gold but Patron is most excellent!

Jose Cuervo GOLD (shooters)

Patron... Very smooth

Don Julio

cabo wabo tequila -

Sammy Hagar created this bang-up tequila while off-stage in Guadalajara and ultimately brought it back to serve at his nightclub, Cabo Wabo, in Cabo San Lucas, Baja, Mexico. Cabo Wabo tequila the genuine article, 100% weber blue agave, baked in wood-fired adobe ovens and double-pot distilled the old-fashioned way for a rich, soul-warming taste.

There are four styles of tequila: Blanco (or silver), Gold, Reposado (rested), and A?ejo (old).

Patron..hands down. Just the smell of Cuervo makes my stomach turn and everyone I know has a horror story about it..Patron is so smooth without the harsh smell or flavor. I hated tequila til I tried it!

Patron, when someone else is bying the shots. lol.

Cabo.

patron silver is really good when you get the shots chilled.
but if the bar has it there is a brand called frida. that is the smoothest tequilla i have ever had. but it is really expensive and hard to find.

patron silver.. its top shelf stuff.

Cabo Wabo

Patron ice cold

Patron

Cabo wabo for sure!!

cuervo gold is good but i make my own

There are a number of good tequilas for under 30 bucks, which for most folks is the "reasonable" price range.

To get the correct tequila experience, don't drink anything that doesn't say 100% agave (like junk like regular Cuervo or Sauza). These are cheap poorly made tequilas designed to sell to college kids to get drunk. They are only 51% real tequila, and the rest are fillers like corn syrup and grain alcohol (and thus the hangover the next day is born).

The aging has a lot to do with the taste, so try a few to see which style you like best, and then remember how the aging is labeled:

Blanco (because it's totally clear) - no aging
Reposado - minimally aged at least 2 months, but can be up to 1 year
Anejo - heavily aged, minimally 1 year but less than 3 years.

Some really expensive ones can even be aged longer than that, but you'll want to work your way up to those.

In the under $30 range, for a 750ml bottle, ones I would recommend are:

Cazadores reposado
Correlejo reposado
XXX Reposado (from the Casa Noble family)
Milagro reposado

Just over that, in the $30-$50 range (for a 750ml bottle) you will find some great ones too, like:

Patron
Don Julio
Dos Lunas

Patron spends more money on marketing in the US, which why so many people talk about it, and they do make decent tequilas, but you can find better for less that just don't have the same marketing budget.

If price is no object, and you want the very best, get Herradura Seleccion Suprema. It's considered an ultra-anejo. It's about $320/bottle. It's an ultra anejo tequila aged for 5 years. Dark brown in color and more like a smooth cognac or bourbon than a cheap tequila.

The best tequilas in the world are ultra anejos that have been aged for years, the Suprema being my favorite.

You can also check out Don Julio 1942, Don Julio Real, Jose Cuervo de la Familia and Gran Patron (sometimes called Platinum), all of which fall into the same category.

Rancho Escondido, smooth going down and kicks you in the butt faster then you can stand up! I don't think you can buy it in the U.S. though. You would have to go Mexico and buy it and pay the taxes to cross over with it or fly!

tequila rose
