My hubby said is Guinness good for you?!

Question: My Great Gran used to swear by it and drank a small can every evening - she lived to be 98 so I donlt suppose it does much harm!?
I don't think there is any proven scientific research regarding any real benefits though - sorry!

yes it is , they used to give it to certain people in hospital years ago to build them up

Yes, in moderation. 10 pints a night isn't too good for you!

it contains a small amount of iron. My uncle swears by it but doc told him you need 20 pints a day to get your daily intake of iron!!! Tastes ok tho i guess. !

My nan says so too, something to do with iron or something.

She drinks it and is 93

Traditionally Guinness was viewed as a good source of Iron and B vitamins and small amounts were advised as a tonic

In the past in Ireland lactating ladies and people who donated blood were offered a small bottle of Guinness by staff.

This practice is now discontinued .... aawww

A pint of Guinness will also keep you regular

A pint of the black stuff please

It's rich in iron and vitamin B .I remember when doctors used to prescribe it to the elderly!!!

jolly good

Guinness's advertising agency (S. H. Benson) did some market research during the 1920's to find our what people liked about Guinness. People responded that they felt good when they had their pint and the slogan was born. The slogan ("Guinness is Good for You") is still used in some countries (notably in Africa) that do not regulate advertising claims as zealously as the U.K. and North America.

Medical benefits would be minimal. A pint of Guinness a day may work as well as an aspirin to prevent heart clots that raise the risk of heart attacks.

Yes it is very rich in iron and vitamins. It is certainly good for Mothers who breastfeed !

50 bucks a case it can go to hell for all I care I rather drink something more refined like Stella or Hoegarrden.

It is high in B vitamins.

Guinness and stouts are not filtered as fine as most beers and usually have more health benefits than regular lager because of the extra particles in the beer that contain elements of the malt and yeast. BUT it is still very high in carbs and calories.

sure is. in ireland when you donate blood they offer you a bottle of guinness afterwards to build your iron back up.

yes it is a great source of iron my mother tried to make me drink a glass of it when i was pregnant but its an acquired taste
