Alcoholic................... I admit it......help!!!!?!

Question: I never could understand AA people but now, I think I might be able to relate to them. I've been in treatment before but I couldn't understand how someone could not say NO to an alcoholic beverage. Not only that, but to drink until they literally pass out.

I feel like I'm getting to that point. I live alone, can't miss a day of work but, I wish I could do a 30 day program to dry out. I drink every day. It's amazing that I do not have hangovers, never miss work but drink vodka or wine every day of my life.

I'm going crazy. My "drinks" every night are so comforting but I am getting worried....how long can I do this without some sort of consequence.

If anyone is going thru this and have an answer, please respond.

Thank you!

Well..... I guess it is all scripted in your DNA if you have the potential of becoming any type of addict. My father was an alcoholic, and in turn I turned to drugs and kicked that habit completely, but I fell back to booze. I drink everyday also, and it helps me cope with my everyday crap. However, are you an alcoholic if all you want to drink is beer? Because I have massive amouts of alcohol in my house vodka, wine, gin etc. and I wil NOT touch it, unless there's a cold brewsky in the fridge... i think the fact that I can down a 12 pack and not have a hangover is a really bad sign for you and I both. Good luck. I think we both need rehab!

nah, i drink about a glass of wine every night just sittin and watchin TV. your perfectly fine sweetie. and i have a great life and job.

I urge you to join or re-join AA.. You know they will help you without condemning you. Good luck and God bless.

I have to tell you it starts with the first no and the next and then the next. eventually it will get easier. most importantly GET IT OUT OF YOUR HOUSE just hang in there. I am a former food addict and I feel it may be sort of the same thing.(I am 100 lbs lighter almost). If you can get a calender and put an x on each day you did not have a drink so you can see your progress. reward yourself weekly with something else other than alcohol.

Start going to AA meetings after work. Also your health insurance might cover you to go on 30-day disability. You'd be getting slightly less pay but the long-term benefit of going through treatment would be worth it.

hi
my uncle has died on new years eve, from drinking to much.
his liver collapsed and he had Intel bleeding, he had 2 heart attacks before he even got to the hospital. he had 2 little sons who are now suffering.
if you don't sort your drinking out, the drink will kill you with out fail.

Depends on how many drinks you have everyday.
