I'm pretty sure that it is legal for an enlisted person of 18 to drink on base.
dude my Friend is 19 and he is an army vet , and he just shows his military I.D, and ud be damn surprised allot of gas stations and supermarkets let him buy alcohol. See the government may tell us this is the law , but it wont keep us civilians from breaking that dumbass law. If i fought to keep ur *** alive and free , you better let my buy alcohol, or Ill kill you!
Servicemembers are subject to the drinking age of the place they are stationed. Take my word for it, the bars in Germany around American bases are filled to the doors with Army and Air Force members.
As for the girl who was pretty sure they can be 18 and drink on base, that's wrong. The drinking age in the U.S. is 21 so on base it's also 21.

Because our country was founded by Puritans, so our laws about alcohol and nudity and foul language on television are still a lot more strict than countries overseas. It sucks, but that's the way we roll.
Because they get drunk, then get behind the wheel of their 4X4 and go out and run over your dog or hit your wife and kids in the minivan on the way home from Wal-Mart. Because they are STUPID! The same reason they joined the Military in the first place!
