What should the drinking age be?!

Question: The argument is, if your old enough to go to war (18), why can't you drink (21)?

Answers: The argument is, if your old enough to go to war (18), why can't you drink (21)?

I agree that the drinking age should be the same as when you're old enough to go to war.
However, the people who started that law had something else in mind. It's been proven that some people's bodies and minds don't fully develop until the age of 21 (sometimes even older) therefore they decided since drinking excessivly can damage or stunt this process they made the legal drinking age 21. All this to protect proper development of the mind and body.
This is what I've heard through school, but I don't know if it's true or not.

It should be 18 years old....yes same argument. If we old enough to die for our country, etc.

8 1/2

I think 18 is old enough, it is in england.

Military service isn't a good arguement, because they can drink *on base* if they are 18.

I agree! You are an adult at 18, so why 21?? You can fight in war, and buy cigarettes, but you can't drink??? Very confusing!

18 would be fine with me but raise the driving age to 21 so you wouldn't have people driving right after drinking for the first time.

I think they should have the same age limit for both alcohol consumption and the war.

On the other hand, some people at twenty or lower are too irresponsible with themselves. Trust me. Been there done that.

9 1/2 i did when i was 9

Drinking age should be 18 worldwide, that is the age that people recognize you as an adult anyway

I think 18 years old.

18

21 because the anticipation of rinking legally makes it so much better

You have to bee 21 or older

Quite honestly, I think you should incorporate alcohol into your child's life from an early age, maybe a glass of wine with dinner. Teaching them responsible drinking is important because if they don't know how to control themselves it doesn't matter if the drinking age is 18, 21, or even 30. The problem with the drinking age being so high is the way parents lock it out of a child's life, telling them it's bad and they're not allowed to drink until 21, and yet they do it right in front of their kids.

Well, aside from my argument, I suppose my answer to your question is 12 while supervised, and 18 unsupervised.
