Please answer this has been bugging me.. Does birch beer have anything too do with the birch tree?!

Question: I am wondering, I had a can of of birch soda and it had picture of a birch tree on it.

Answers: I am wondering, I had a can of of birch soda and it had picture of a birch tree on it.

Birch beer is a carbonated soft drink made from herbal extracts, usually from birch bark. After the sap is collected, it is distilled to make birch oil. The oil is added to the carbonated drink to give it the distinctive flavor. "Black birch" is the most common source of extract.

Sadly, Birch Beer has nothing to do with actual beer, and is a soda, just like root beer.

Yes. Birch beer is made, in part, with sap from certain birch trees.

That sounds intriguing. I have had beers brewed in part with pine needles and I have had home-brewed thistle beer. The thistle beer was thin and very dry and had an unbelievable kick. I would love to sample some birch beer. Dang! Now I'm going to be looking for it everywhere I go.
