I opened a bottle or merlot around c-mas, popped the cork back in it tightly, Opened it couple times, stillgood!

Question: have drank on it a few times, tonight I want a glass. I put that plug back in as tightly as I could each time. Do you think it's ok for me to drink? How would I know if it was bad?

You really don't drink very much, now do you??

A bottle will only last me through two uncorkings :)

The only way to tell is taste - it won't make you sick, it will just taste more like vinegar than wine...

If it smells and tastes ok then it is fine.

Usually it will definitely taste bad, like vinegar, if it has been uncorked for a while. I don't think its physically bad for you to drink, like milk would be if spoiled, but it will taste bad. I usually cant drink wine the next day after it has been opened unless I try very hard to suck the air out and quickly cork it. You could always buy a wine preserver for around $10. They work wonders. I want me a glass now!

Well I guarantee you that the flavor isn't the same, but it won't kill you. If it is truly gone bad, you will know.

How the heck does a single bottle sit that long??? Isn't that sacrilegious or something....

The first taste and smell will set you off. Get a vacuum sealer they preserve wine for a good long time: )

I understand you can freeze wine sucessfully for up to a month. Never tried it because I enjoy drinking wine.
