Gerwurtztraminer originated in Alscace but Chile is producing a pretty good drop.

Don't really like any of those big dogs...

They always whine! ;-)

ALSATIAN! My GOD, they got kicked out by the Germans and the Austrians are Barbarians! ;)

WTF?! An Alsation is the same as a German Shepherd...it's what it was called when "German's" were a bit of a no no after the war, but it was changed back to German Shepherd once things had calmed down a bit.

As for an Austrian Gwotsit, I haven't a clue my friend.

German, otherwise, I think most other wines suck.

The absolutely best Gewurztraminers I have had were actually from the Okanagan Valley appellation of British Columbia. Absolutely succulent.

I am sure you are talking about

'Alsace Gewuerztraminer' - saw the advert, did you?

It is a wine from the region of the Alsace, a French area bordering on to Germany and Switzerland.

This region has often in history been the bone of content between France and Germany , and therefore has been German at times under the name of Elsass or French as it is now called Alsace.

I think it is a mild white wine, like the German wines from the Rhine area, as the river Rhine forms the border between the countries.

German of course. Try it chilled to the point of freezing in summer. stick it in your freezer, and just as ice crystals from open it up. most sommeliers would diss this approach, but german wine has never been an acceptable option for wine snobs. try it, it's great!

Alsace to my mind produces the very best Gewurtz but at a price.

I must say I agree with the poster who mentioned the Okanogan Valley brand from here in BC Canada, though the name it's under eludes me right now. Other than that I'm a fan of any german gerwurt.
