Well, the two are so closely related... whisky is distilled hops-less beer!
depending on the mood, temperature, or occasion, it can be either, neither, or both!
But please - dont call Jack Daniels "whiskey" because it isn't. Its Burboun and its a totally different thing than Whisky. Only Americans call it Whisky. If you want whisky, get some single malt speysides from Scotland.
And don't call any mass-market brew "beer" - its watery crap only fit for frat boys and drunks. If you want beer - try Belgian or German brews, or some of the handcrafted ones you can find at microbrews.
It always amazes me how the good stuff always takes a back seat to cheap mass-produced crap. (Maybe its the "cheap" part).
