christ, enough pussyfooting about, just drink it!

It depends on where you kept it. If you kept it in a cold place the whole time you have had it should be fine but if you kept it in a cold place then a warm place then you should pitch it. When you change the temp the wine ages to fast.

1999 is not too old for a zin, but it very well could have turned if it was improperly bottled or stored badly (not necessarily by you.) If wine is stored upright, the cork can dry up and expose the contents to outside bacterium.

As long as the bottle was stored on it's side in a dark and cool place it should be fine.

Call the Winery and ask them . Most bottles of wine the last 10 years have a number or website you can call to ask questions. You can also pop it and try it and if it taste like vinegar , toss it. Hopefully you stored it correctly and did not let it decompose.

do you own it already? you can tell when you open it the cork will smell woofy, like rotten bandaids. The good news is that red wine, if it's kept cool enough it should age o.k. Tho zins don't need aging. Probably I'd have a back up bottle just in case.
