Typically the people that drink Manhattans fall into one of two categories.
1) Old men. These are the guys that sit about in the clubhouse after playing a round of golf and drink Manhattans, Rob Roys, and Martinis.
2) Young Hipsters. These are younger folk of either gender that want to appear more sophisticated than their fellows.
Personally I'm neither of the two but I enjoy a good Manhattan from time to time. As I hate the maraschino cherry, I never include it as it's more of a garnish anyway.

A Manhattan is a drink for smooth men and strong women! Take it from a guy who has 42 bottles of whiskey and loves those straight shots that anyone who loves a good whiskey is going to just as much enjoy a well made Manhattan.
