Is it better to drink red wine on an empty stomach or after eating?!

Question:

Is it better to drink red wine on an empty stomach or after eating?

and Why?

I think it is better to drink it before eating , simply because it helps build your appetite and I think you also get a better "high" if you dont have a lot of food already in your stomach.

What do you think, and why?

Answers:
after.... because wine is an alcohol.. alcohol promotes a better blood circulation and with reason wine is more helpful when taken after meals.....

After, can't really follow the answer that was first because it explains it all, toshay sir.

It certainly takes effect quicker on an empty stomach. I suppose that can be a good thing in some situations...

I prefer to enjoy red wine with dinner, its flavor can be enhanced if it is paired well with the cuisine. A cocktail before dinner and port or brandy afterwards is very satisfying.

That is a good point of view. I do not drink red wine it makes me too ill. I would say if I did drink it that I would have it with food at a meal. I do like white wine but not the hangovers lol.

During and after.

Obviously you should start with a Martini!

eat b4 u drink it will reduce ur headache in the morning

If you're drinking just to get a 'high' then your question is moot.

You may as well sink a bottle of gin before dinner. In fact a gin & tonic before a meal cleans your palate and stimulates the appetite.

Red wine is intended to accompany food not as a means of getting tiddly. It can coat your tongue so that you don't get the full flavour from your aperitif, which often has light flavours.

The conventions grew up over many generations for sound reasons. They work (for most people).
Light spirits before eating (cleans the mouth and tongue and stimulates the appetite); wine during the meal (the type of wine should compliment the dish not mask it, hence the red/white conventions); brandy afterwards (it helps the digestion).

After this lot you'll have your 'high' but in a civilised fashion and lots of belching and 'botty-burps' are almost compulsary in 'Society'.

It is much better to drink red wine whilst eating a meal.

Before during and after. Builds the appetite, quenches the thirst, helps with digestion, And give a pretty decent buzz.

Never drink alcohol on an empty stomach i dunno why but its more bad for you and your more likely to have a much worse hangover if you didnt eat before..Thats from my experience anyway.

It is best to drink red wine while you are eating. If you choose a meal that will complement the wine, this will make the wine and meal better,

A clean spirit based drink before food,an accompanying wine with each course, yes even desert wine with desert,& best of all a quality Brandy/congac after.
These are basic and fundamental guidelines to enjoying drink food and having a good constitution.
Moreover enjoyed in convivial company your enjoyment of life will grow.

Eat first - red wine in particular can get you really, really drunk on an empty stomach - can even get you to black out. Not pleasant.
