Why do people cook with cooking wine?? o_0?!
Answers: Hi, i'm a begineer cook and I want to start making some tasty meals. I'd like to know what cooking wines do to normal average day food. And what are basic wines people use? Plz no advanced wines and stuff im new..
Wine not only adds flavor to the food it also helps to tenderize meat. Cook wine is generally less expensive as it has started to turn to vinegar but still has the wine flavor. I buy the $2.00 a bottle stuff at Trader Joe's and it's great not on ly for cooking but for drinking. If you don't happen to live near one just buy any cheap wine and it'll do. The alcohol burns off during the cooking. Rule of thumb is red wine for red meat and white wine for poultry and veggies and fish.
wine gives aroma (flavour) to the food and the benefits of good quality vinegar.
Any basic white wine or red wine, depending on the recipe, is fine to use in cooking. There's no special label to buy, but remember that you don't want to spend a lot of money for it since you'll be using it for cooking and not serving it to guests.
Wine helps to give food a little zing. The rule of thumb I usually go by is, if I would drink it as a wine then I would cook with it too. If it doesn`t taste very nice to you to begin with do you think cooking it will change this. Wine is a personal choice, you stick with what you like and you`ll be fine. Happy cooking!
I made a turkey and basted it with chardonnay and butter and then used the juices for the best gravy ever. I also put red wine in the crock pot when i make a pot roast. Have Fun, you can use it in anything, spaghetti sauces also.
No matter how good your recipe is, a little cooking wine will make it better. It not only adds flavor, it tenderizes the meat and adds texture. I think the best wine to cook with is Marsala. It's really not a drinking wine but it adds a world of flavor to your favorite dish. This is my favorite recipe and it's extremely easy to make and very delicious! Chicken Marsala: (better than the Olive Garden!) http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Chicken-Mar...
It uses Marsala wine and sherry. Hope you enjoy!
