Try a 2003 or 2004 "Clos Du Val" Merlot, should be around $30/bottle. They make a consistantly excellent wine.

price has very little to do with the quality of wine, its not like beer. red wine is dry. Aim for a blush wine or table wine. The older the wine, the dryer the wine.
