Looking for a cheap Whiskey that tastes close to Jack Daniels?!

Question:

Looking for a cheap Whiskey that tastes close to Jack Daniels?

I like using JD as a marinade but want something a little cheaper. Anyone know of anything that is close but doesn't cost as much?

Answers:
You won't find the quality of Jack in cheaper brands. However as a marinade you could use Evan Williams (black label) or Wild Turkey (which isn't really cheap either) . I've tried High Ten and Virginia Gentleman are both good substitutes. I must warn you though, if you wouldn't drink it why cook with it? You will not get the result you are looking for. Good luck.

Evan Williams, is the closest for less.

There's always, Jim Beam

There isn't one. If you need the flavor of JD in your marinade, then there is nothing you can substitue for it.

If all you need is the alcohol in any given whiskey as a solvent for other flavors in your marinade, then just go buy the cheapest thing on the shelf.

The whole point of using a product like JD is to get the flavor of JD in your finished product. If you don't need the flavor, you don't need the JD.

I am a big whiskey fan and i have yet to find any other whiskey that comes close to the taste of Jack Daniels.
I have tried knob creek, makers mark, black velvet, jim bean...all of those are crap.
