A harvey wallbanger is obviously not a cool drink anymore so what is?!

Question:

A harvey wallbanger is obviously not a cool drink anymore so what is?

why were harvey wall bangers ever all the rage, they seem pretty lame, what drinks are the "in drinks these days besides "soco" everything.

Answers:
Harvey Wallbangers are great! If you like them, drink them. Like the other former bartender said, we see people trying to 'be cool' in bars way too often, and unfortunately everyone around that kind of person tends to pick up on it too. Until I began working in a lounge that an older generation frequented I had never heard of Wallbangers, now I think they're the cat's meow, haha. Go with what you like!

mojitos
tequila slammers
red bull & anything hectic with it
long island iced teas (strong ones)

So you want to look cool huh? For the ladies I presume? As a former female bartender, nothing will fly the women toward you faster than flashing money around. TRUST ME I watched it for years.

Order a shot by name (ie sky straight up not Vodka straight up.) with a coke (or whatever) bac. Never tequiela. Don't order cutsie drinks for yourself that's what the girls do. Then slide your bartender or cocktail waitress a paper tip. NOT change and make sure the ladies see it.

All types of martinis and margaritas.

Water - still or sparkling. But never ask for water. Ask for still water, or sparkling water from a bottle, not the tap. And if you are in a fancy place ask for a twist of lime.

1 1/2 vodka
4 oz OJ
1/2 Galliano
I think that is when Galliano was introduced here as a substitute for a screwdriver. Mid 1960's ???

It's true that the revolutionary wheel of drinking has yet to come back around to such classic cocktails as the Harvey Wallbanger, Singapore sling, and Highball, but there are still plenty of cocktails that utilize some of the more dusty of ingredients on our shelves. Take Galliano for instance. I have just recently introduced, at my bar, the "Lost Panties" and it's been a definate success.

Lost Panties
1/2 oz Galliano
1/2 oz Amaretto
1oz White rum
1/2 oz Fresh squeezed lime juice
1oz Mango nectar.
Mix ingredients in a shaker tin violently then strain into a cocktail glass. Float Midori to the bottom of the glass. Garnish with Lime wheel.
