Is being an alcholic a disease or just an excuse?!

Question:

Is being an alcholic a disease or just an excuse?

for being an alcoholic. And if it a disease then wouldnt someone that is addicted to crack cocaine, heroin and cigarettes have a disease also. And what about sex addicts and over eaters they must also have a disease.

Answers:
Yes, they all have a disease. It's called "addiction".

it is a desease

None of the above have a disease. Addiction is just an excuse to not feel so bad about being a weak-minded loser with no backbone.

research AA online, it is a disease. Trust me i know

It's neither.... its an addiction if it were an excuse would'nt everyone be doing it to get out of work or school i think u should try .......BREAK THE ADDICTION.COM....(i saw it on a commercial) if there is a certain reason u do it then hmmm maybe u need to get away from whats in life thats making u do this!!

Good Luck !!!

Excuse.

There are people with plenty of real diseases out there who cant just stop drinking and then they are all better, you know? I dont think people with ovairan cancer or cystic fibrosis can do anything about their diseases. An alcoholic can just stop.
The excuse can lead to diseases, but the addiction... its in no way a disease!

Nowadays I think the medical community considers most alcohol/drug addictions a disease.

It's a farking addiction and saying it's a disease is an excuse.

You have to bring the alcohol to your lips and drink it, it doesn't magically appear in your mouth forcing you to swallow it. If you don't drink, you don't get sick therefore it is not a disease.

You put a regular person in an environment where there's no alcohol and I can guarantee you they won't become an alcoholic. If you take the same person and make them drink a bottle of JD every day, I can guarantee you they'll become a raging alcoholic in no time at all.
