Is there such a thing of an alcoholic shot costing around $450?!

Question:

Is there such a thing of an alcoholic shot costing around $450?

IF SO WHICH ONES?

Answers:
Absolutely. They're rare, but they're out there - and they're rarely shot back, but rather sipped slowly; for the money, you'd better make it last!

If you're at a bar and they're charging you $450 for an ounce of the stuff, it's probably costing them anywhere between $150-250 for the shot. Given that most bottles have 26 ounces, you're looking at anywhere between $4,000-$6,500 per bottle (or twice that if you're talking about buying a bottle yourself for home use but still want to spend $450 per shot). That's certainly rare, but doublessly do-able.

Generally, anything in that price range is going to be either a Cognac, Armagnac, or Scotch, although there are also some other spirits and wines in those price ranges. Hennessy makes a 'Richard' Cognac, which goes for about $2,000 a bottle. That's about the most expensive bottle you're likely to find at a non-specialist fine-spirits merchant, but if you're in a major centre, you can get pricier.

I used to work for one of those, and we had a bottle of wine (Petrus 2000) which we were selling for $5,800 - which works out to about $230 per 'shot' of the wine. Our most expensive bottle of booze was a Macallan 50 year old special edition (scotch), which was a shade over $40,000.

Lots of people with lots of money around.

Yeah. The one that lands you a ticket for DUI.

If you shot an alcoholic, it would cost MUCH more than $450, heck, that would not cover the bail!!!!!!

If you got charged that much. I think a bar tender might have riped you off.
