How much real ale is drunk in the UK?!

Question:

How much real ale is drunk in the UK?

Answers:
9% of all ale sold is real, so find the total and work out the percentage.

a lot!

I'll meet you in the pub a bit later and we can both find out.

£2.30, $4.60 a pint. John Smith's is ****,!!!!

What is real ale cause i was in london recently and my uncle asked me if i'd drunk much real ale yet and i said John Smith, he said that's not real ale.....I tried god damn it, i tried..

In answer to the first question, it tends to be drunk by older people as the chavvy types prefer larger and the rest seem to drink alot of spirits or girly drinks...sorry for stereotyping but that's how it is where I live!

As for your confusion over ale-type; real ale is the stuff that comes in glass bottles in supermarket (stuff like hobgoblin and badger ale). In the pub just ask them about which real ales they have and they'd tell you, it's their job! =P

Good luck!!

ps local cider is the way forward, or perhaps absinthe...
