A Raging Alcholic, trying to get a job?!

Question: If i apply for a job as a bartender and I put on my resume that I am a raging alcoholic, yet I will pay for ALL I consume while working, or have it deducted from my pay, do you think I would be a Asset to the bar I work at?
(now remeber, I may be raging, but I work well and function normally while I consume)
come on smile and be thankful you are not me!

I'm having difficulty believing you're actually asking this question. I can't imagine any supervisor being alright with you drinking on the job especially considering you're admitting that you're an alcoholic. As your boss I would find it impossible to be OK contributing to your disease. By the way I find it refreshing that you're not in denial, been there done that?

To be honest, you wouldn't be an asset. An employer doesn't want to monitor or take the risk of having an alcoholic employee consume the products that's intended for the customers. It's also rather dangerous to be drunk on the job. Just being blunt and honest. I cant sugar coat this.

well you can...save the drinks that are not finished by patrons and soon you will have a bottle of it.

that way you can drink and not pay for it. finders keepers

yes you would be a asset people would just *** to watch you work and try to keep up

Well I have to say I know most of the jobs that I have bartended at don't let you drink on the job(my current bartending job doesn't let me). There are some clubs that actually promote drinking on the job. Look into that, that way you don't have to worry about paying a tab. You also get lucky and most of the time if you build a good convo, people will want to buy your drinks anyways!

as food and beverage manager at a licenced establishment, I would never call you back... ever... at all... in a million years...good god no. hiring a drunk to tend bar is like hiring a pedophile to teach preschool. any drunk who thinks that they are fully functional while drinking has not been sober long enough to realize the difference.

For any, um, "challenges" I think it's best to show that they will not interfere with job performance.

Perhaps you have references from past jobs who can vouch that for you alcohol makes you a thoughtful, diligent and cheerful employee? (And the reference should at least sound sober, btw.)

Oh, and probably best to avoid the word "raging". Otherwise people might think you're just baiting controversy. =)

From experience you tend to drink more than you earn.

You drink, I'll serve.
You serve, I'll drink.
We will get fired and can stagger home together, half-cut.

No, you would be a liability as you would be too drunk to mix customers drinks properly and to keep server's orders straight.

Yeah, you say you will pay for each drink, but before you know it, you forgot that one shot the businessman told you to put on his tab for being so cute, the ninth, tenth and eleventh pitchers on the frat guys so they will tip you better...

You put that on the resume, you are telling the owner you will be stealing from him. You are going to get canned anyway, people ALWAYS get caught. And your worst enemies are the people you treat best.

"Oh, Lucy got me so wasted last night! I only spent ten bucks, too! She hooked me up when I gave her a fat tip!"

They will always leave you high and dry when it counts.

you dont want your employers to know this. And depending on what state you live in they can lose their liquor license. You need help if you cant even complete a shift at work without alcohol.
