Why do different kinds of alcohol have an effect on the same person differently?!

It's very strange, it's like gin is suppost to make you cry and cider gives my friends killer hangovers! There are a hell of alot of chemicals in the alcohol we drink - maybe it's the way they affect the body?

I think it has to do with the percentage of alcohol contained in that kind of drink. My father got deadly drunk once because he lost his job in the security force. He drank with his best friend and co-worker half a bottle of Horse-headed Whiskey with 70% proof alcohol in one night. Why my mom and me learned this? He bought the left over 1/3 of the bottle home. I don't drink and don't smoke. My father did drink beer all the time. He was cool and talked sensibly with my mom and me.

Because different people have a different capacity of absorption and assilimation of alcohol into their blood stream.The faster the absorption the faster they get drunk....got it....

I've wondered that same thing...Whiskey affected me that way when I drank it. I stay away from it now.
