Is 1995 Veuve Cliquot Grande Dame ready to drink?!

Question: An old boyfriend left a case or so at my place and I remember him telling me about a year ago that it was too young

Bubbly is typically ready as soon as it's been released. While it can *change* with age, it's not necessary to age it for improvement.

Your BF was very wrong about it not being ready. In fact, wine spectator says that this wine should be consumed by the end of this year to get it while it's at its peak.

Granted, Wine Spectator is not the 'end all' in things, it's a great guide to use.

Enjoy and Cheers!

champagne is ready to drink as soon as it it bottled. it does not age well, and can easily turn to vinegar. open a bottle to test, and as long as it has not spoiled drink it up!

champagne is always ready to drink .. there's no such thing as a young champagne and keeping it too long could cause it to taste too yeasty.

I'd call up an fine wine store and ask them. They may have a drinkability chart that will help you determine the answer to your question than the people here.

If you would please box up a bottle or two and ship them to me, address available. I will test and make the determination. Thank you. Cheers.

Actually, with few exceptions champagne has a optimal shelf life of about 10 years. Drink it now, in a few years, you'll be disappointed. Not even all red wine improve that much with age.

Your own responses, not well informed, seem to indicate that you really didn't want to ask this question, just to let us know you had a case of Veuve Cliquot in the closet.

It's OK we know what it is and I won't give you any advice because you didn't take the advice already given.
