Why do people buy expensive vodka when it's the same as cheap vodka?!
Answers: Why spend 30 bucks on a 750ml bottle of Grey Goose when you can just get a store brand 1.5L bottle for 10 bucks? I mean they all taste the same anyway!
They taste the same to you.
But there is a distinct difference in taste and smoothness between the cheap stuff and the better brands. If you don't drink that much your palate may not be developed enough to notice the difference. See my article on vodka on my website.

AGE AGE AGE THATS IT
Because it's a cheap way to feel like you're rich enough to have the best. There is also strong evidence that cheap vodka gives a worse hangover.
becuase of the commercialism.
If they all DO taste the same to you, by all means, buy the cheapest. If, on the other hand, you discern some difference--and a difference that you value, appreciate, enjoy, etc.--well, that might cost more. The same goes for any talent. Some folks enjoy lousy music, plays, teams, decor, cars, etc. But if you perceive subtle or profound differences in these categories, you'll want to pay more.
Say it's a certain lineage of dogs or horses. Say it's houses, clothes, restaurants, etc. In every case, your degree of appreciation and perception dictates how much you're willing to pay to enjoy that difference...a difference that may be imperceptible to others. Enjoy, in any case.
Because you obviously haven't tasted the difference between good vodka and store brand... and just for the record $30 isn't good vodka. It is average vodka. Good vodka can't be purchased for less than $50. I will add that there is a major difference between Goose and that crap that you get in the plastic gallon jug for $12 at the grocery store. The higher the priced vodka, the more more times it has been filtered and the more impurities that have been removed.
True all alcohol tastes bad, but the quality is the difference. Common rule is that if its bottle is plastic-stay away, glass your ok.
I buy the best
It's the same as buying a Chevy Tahoe or a Cadillac Escalade . They're essentially the same.........same frame, same motor, same transmission, etc.. The Caddy just has fancy wooden molding, leather seats, and more "bells and whistles", which may add "value" if you look from a spoiled rich person's perspective. Overall, it's the same vehicle and the person buying the Escalade is just buying the name..............Same with the vodka!
first of all, grey goose is crap...i wouldn't spend $0.50 on a bottle....
secondly, you are a moron for asking such a stupid question...that is like asking why you would buy a lawnmower when you could use a weed wacker....or why would you sleep with a **** when you could sleep with a virgin...
COME ON PEOPLE!!!
they don't taste the same at all! bad vodka tastes HORRIBLE, i choke on it.
and i'm not a spoiled rich person either, i had bad vodka before i ever had good vodka and couldn't really drink it, then i tried better vodka and was amazed how good it tasted.
yeah its all the same
It is all marketing...thats why people opt for the more expensive vodka. In blind taste tests done on several types of vodka (I watched this on Dateline NBC), including Grey Goose, Belvedere, Ketel One, and Smirnoff Triple Distilled...survey said across the board that the less expensive Smirnoff had the best flavor served neat and/or over ice. Grey Goose BOMBED bigtime. It came in last place for flavor.
We bought a large bottle of Ketel One for an event we had at our home last year. When it ran out, we filled it with Smirnoff or even Sky Vodka...NOBODY knew the wiser. In fact, they were praising us for having such great vodka on hand for guests all the time. HA. It is all marketing. If it looks sexy and it costs more than it must be worth it. I dont fall for that.
ALSO, we bought the Kirkland brand triple distilled vodka from Costco. It won a bunch of awards and was about $30 for the 1.75 liter bottle. About the same cost for the Ketel One. We served it in that bottle and people were picking up the bottle and wondering because they hadnt seen it before. Some even made fun of us. The vodka tasted FABULOUS neat and mixed in drinks. Funnily enough, when we poured it into a decanter and mentioned it was Ketel One everyone was over the moon about.
Marketing. DOnt fall for it. I will say however, I do have my standards. I dont buy less value than Smirnoff 3D. I dont do plastic containers.
Vodka is my drink and U can taste and smell the difference between good and cheap.. I pefer to drink the expensive stuff, but I will buy cheap bc I am not made of money...It DOES NOT taste the same at all.
Why do people drink vodka at all? i know it's personal preference, but I prefer no vodka at all. Give me some whiskey or another form of liquor, Goldschlager works.
To get to the point, quality cost money. You go and taste five o'clock and tell me you are drinking Grey goose. You can't say they are the same.
Appreciation of the finer things in life my friend is the answer to your question.
In time you'll figure it out for yourself. There is a difference.
Taste, hangover etc.....The newer you are the cheaper you buy, that only makes sense...........Experiment like I did and you'll go to the more filtered, distilled quality stuff.
If you can't tell the difference in either of those areas, why buy the more expensive?.In the meantime enjoy what you can afford!
Maybe to you. A lot of the higher priced stuff has a much better taste to me than the store brand stuff.
Hi,
Grey Goose or other such premium vodkas are way better than cheap vodkas. For that matter even Absolut or Smirnoff.
Grey Goose is a 5 times distilled vodka and is made in France. It is made using spring water from Gensac which is naturally filtered through Champagne limestone. The Grey Goose is so silky smooth and will not burn your throat or other organs when you have a drink made from it. And the chances are you will hold mroe drinks made from Grey Goose than drinks made from lower quality vodkas. All in all, it may be more healthy for you.
The cheal local store vodka may get you high, in that sense, both the drinks meet your purpose, if that is what you meant. But the local vodka will burn you harder and probably may cause lasting damages to your body systems or organs. And you dont know what all go into such a drink, and if something happens to you?
Drinking is for pleasure and socialising. It is very important you drink responsibly and hold your drinks well. Selecting a good and safe drink is very important to achieve it.
Cheers..
