It could..as the saying I've heard for a very long time goes....once an alcoholic always as alcoholic.

It depends, if you quit drinking because you no longer wanted to drink then one beer should be OK. If you had to quit because you were in some type of program then I would say no don't drink it.

Would it truly be just one?

It depends. Were you alcoholic prior to quitting? If so, I wouldn't reccomend it. And if you have any sort of weakness for, intolerance to, or bodily issues (even ones that usually require a large amound) caused by alcohol, I also wouldn't--since you haven't had it in a while, any reaction your body may have would probably be heightened.

However, if you were a moderate drinker and quit for other reasons, one should be fine. Just remember not to apply the "it's just ---," to a second beer, because you may not be able to stop.

If you have in the past or thought that you had a drinking problem. One beer would be a disaster. I have family members that are like that and each time it seems to get worst for them. Just ask yourself why you quite in the first place and it might help you to not start back.

Depends on why you quit. Where you out of control? Have you solved your issues. Do you have the ability to understand the responsibility of drinking. I was sober for 5 years. I went through a process I needed to before I could make the decision to drink, and I can do it now. I have learned I do not need to loose control of myself and I can appreciate a glass of wine or a few beers. But your choices can effect you and if you are not really sure, do not start. If you believe you can control yourself, maybe do so with someone that knows how to help you and is aware of where you have been. I do not believe all people that have had a problem can never drink again. Some people really do have a disease and it effects them in a way that makes it impossible for them to ever have alcohol. Know yourself and decide if you have really recovered from your issues or if you have the disease. Good luck...

Hi,
Any amount of drinks is okay as long as you know where to stop and when to stop, and you are sure you dont act irresponsibly like driving when drunk or acting funnily with people.
Having said that you should revisit the reasons why you quit drinking and why you feel like having a beer now. If you want to have drinks now because of any problems, or if you stopped drinking 6 years back because that was affecting you, then you should abstain. But if you have someone with you who knows about your past problems or current issues and who can make you stop having more drinks even when if you feel like having a second one, then probably you can have. It was remarkable that you did not drink for the last 6 years, I am sure you ca n exercise the same control even now. We all live in this world to enjoy living and what the lfie gives us. If you think a beer will give you some p,leasures without affecting your health or other vital parameters of your life, why not, have one. But please be always responsible and stop at that one beer.
Cheers..

Think about WHY you stopped drinking in the first place and you will have your answer!
