Good wine of the month club?

I'm having a glass of Campo Viejo Tempranillo Reserva 2001 and it's my favorite today. ;-)
IDK
Gold Medal Wine Club! Always a perfect selection.
None. Seriously, wine of the month clubs tend to fail miserably as they do not ask what you like. A great wine that is not to your liking is a bad wine for you.
Find a good store near your home and ask for recommendations - steer them in the right direction by telling them what you have had and liked in the past. Tell them you wish to expand your knowledge of wine and try new things or give them scenarios to fill - i.e. I am having people over and serving X.
Better wine stores will help take you on your journey both inexpensively and personally. Kafka (a wine shop in Chicago) has a system that tracks what you have purchased and can be referenced when you shop there. My suggestion is to set a price barrier and don't exceed it until you find a style you really like - then go after the top producers in that variety.
Or you can create your own by saving email specials from your favorite wine merchant (I like shopperswines email program) and placing an order when ready.
Good luck and remember - wine is for drinking and should be enjoyed.
I was in Wine.com's "Big, Bold Reds" club for a couple years. I really liked the wines I would get each month.
Problem is, most clubs are expensive. Some of the wines I see in clubs in the $20 range, can be purchased at your local store for $12 or $13. And if you are getting two each month, what you pay in shipping can almost buy you another bottle of decent wine.
If you can find a local shop that offers something similar where you can pick it up, you might do better. There's one near me that does free tastings every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It's a great way to try new things, get your hands on some great wine, and support a local business.
