A teetotal is someone who doesn't drink alcohol.
An Alcoholic is someone who is addicted to alcohol.

So...someone who is now teetotal but was an alcoholic is simply a person who is addicted, recognises this and so abstains completely from alcohol.

Best wishes

Someone who doesn't drink any alcohol whatsoever - anymore - but was once addicted.

first one

yes, its an ex alcoholic that no longer touches the stuff.

Someone who craves a lovely fat glass of Gin Fizz but can't have any because he'll end up dry-humping his neighbour's bird bath again.

This is someone who abstains from drinking any alcohol.

There's no such thing as an ex-alcoholic, if you have a biological dependency on drink you will always have that, you just learn to abstain from it.

it is a person who used to be an alcholic and now they don't touch it. If they drank a glass of wine it would lead to 2.3.4. drinks and before you know it they are back to being addicted

A teetotaller is someone who abstains from drinking alcohol. It is used both ways...for someone who doesn't drink at all as well as for someone who was once an alcoholic who cannot and will not drink anymore. The two words are not used in one sentence since you don't know which definition applies!

Me, I am an alcoholic and I no longer drink alcohol, don't be me (ya know what I mean!)

Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic. You can be an on the wagon alcoholic or a teetotaler, same thing. It means that you are an alcoholic that no longer drinks alcohol. Teetotaler, it originally meant that you drank only tea.

There is no such thing as an ex alcoholic. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. A recovering alcoholic is one who does not drink.

T-Total or "Temperance-Total" is about no alcohol for them-self. A person that practices this philosophy is also anti-alcohol for others.

It means he doesn't drink and he also doesn't do Alcoholics Anonymous.

Notice all the people who said there's no such thing as an ex-alcoholic. These are all AA members or people who get their information from pro-AA sources. They believe that alcoholics have a disease that can never be cured, even God can't cure it, only grant a daily reprieve. Would you call an ex-smoker a smoker?

An Alcoholic who is now tee total is simply an alcoholic who chose to change by not drinking. Not an easy thing to do

An ex alcoholic, who now long longer drinks alcohol
