There is no number. Someone that serves you alcoholic beverages must recognize signs that tell you have had too much to drink.
They don't even have to serve you if you come in drunk or appear to be drunk.
If they have served you 4 LI Iced Teas in one hour, they will have that in mind.
Most states have classes that help recognize the signs that someone has had too much to drink. They will also explain about how many drinks it will thake for a 250lb man to be legally intoxicated as opposed to a 110 lb woman.
One shot is about equal to a 12 oz beer or a 6 oz glass of wine in alcohol content.

In PA (I lived there most of my life) as in most states (the law varies widely due to there being no federal standard/law) a bartender must legally cut you off when you are visibly intoxicated. There isn't a set drink limit because to become visibly drunk it may take me 8 beers and you only 3. Also "visibly drunk" is subject to the bartenders or even the convenience store clerks judgment.

there is no nmber, the general rule is visible intoxication
if you are visibly intoxicated the bertender
should cut you off

911

Usually at mosts restaruants its 3 alcoholic beverages but if your eating along with drinking i think 2 more is aloud

I've never been cut off

When you become intoxicated, rude, buying rounds for everyone, any number of actions can get you cut off.
