I had this once, but straight. Mixing
it with Coke or Pepsi didn't enter my mind.

yes mixed with coke. It was good.
I have, it was different, in a good way, basically like a mix between tequila and whiskey. Not that you'd ever mistake it for anything other than tequila though.
In Mexico they call tequila and coke changitongo or charro negro, it is OK but not something I would do often.
