What is a TAM card and a health card? (Health card is something in vegas ?)?!

Question:

What is a TAM card and a health card? (Health card is something in vegas ?)?

TAM card ?? health card??

Answers:
tam card allows you to serve alcohol... and a health card is to make sure you dont get food infected, and you have to take a class to certify you will be clean and not cross contaminate foods

In Las Vegas to work in a restaurant you need a health card, a TAM card, and possibly a sheriff's card, depending upon the location.

To get the health card, you need to go to the Clark County Health District. They give you a shot and make you watch a movie. It costs about $35-$40.

To get a TAM card, check out your local yellow pages. There are lots of different companies that offer the 2-4 hour classes and can issue you a TAM card. It's an alcohol awareness card and costs about the same as the health card.

Some places also require a sheriff's card. If you get hired they will let you know and give you the instructions on how to get it.

TAM Card is actually a brand name (trademarked by the MLBA), but is often used as a generic term to describe Alcohol Beverage Awareness Courses. The previous answer actually referred to an older county ordinance now superseded by a recently passed state law (NRS 369). While the new law created several changes in Alcohol
Awareness Training in Nevada, the largest change may have been in allowing the training to be done on-line. See below for links to NRS 369 and to website for on-line class.

Health Cards can be obtained by visiting the Health District. Be prepared to watch a video teaching you about different health risks in the food industry before receiving your Health Card.

While some other states require Alcohol Awareness Training and Health Cards, not all do. Alcohol Awareness Training (TAM Card) and Health Cards are not just a Vegas thing, but really a Nevada thing.
