When using grape juice incartons to make wine must it be preservative free and how muchsugar per4.5ltr/1gallon!

No, it doesn't need to be preservative free.Dissolve 3lbs of sugarin some warm water and add the juice. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10mins to drive off any preservative, cool and pour into your demi john.

All of my recipes for wine say glass jars!! Not sure but think cartons wouldn't be good for fermentation. good luck many recipes online if you ask for grape wine recipe

you can not use this as the preservatives will not permit fermentation basically that is what they are supposed to do . as when making wine the sugar in the grapes convert to alcohol but in the cartons of grape juice is for drinking as grape juice and not for wine production you need to get grape juice or concentrate that is intended for the production of wine and it is more than likely cheaper too. and the variate of the grape will be more suitable for making wine as well

Preservative is in the juice to kill yeast. What do you think?
