Why is Johnny Walker Black Label?!

Question: ....Virtually abandoned by Diageo in their overseas markets?

Until recently you could also have asked "Why is Johnny Walker Green Label only widely availble outside the UK?"

I suppose it comes down to targeting specific products at specific markets. If certain styles of whisky do well in one country but not another, then multinationals like Diageo ain't gonna bother trying to push products in an area where that style isn't too popular.

Which means that if you like a style that's different to the national 'taste' then you're going to struggle to find that product. It sucks, but that as they say is "business".
